I’ve stopped tracking. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I realised about two weeks ago that I have been tracking my food for around 15 years. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Starting many many years ago when I first went into a weight loss journey - I joined Weight Watchers online for about 6 months counting points. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I then moved to MyFitnessPal, and for the last four years I’ve been signed up with both Avatar Nutrition and Carbon for macro counting. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’d accepted that I had an emotional relationship with food in the past and that I would always need to track in order to keep that at bay. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What I didnt realise was that essentially I was living in a state where I let my mind tell my body if I was hungry and/or when I would be fed, and how much. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Now, in the beginning of my journey I couldn’t differentiate between my body being hungry and my mind being hungry - eating was a coping mechanism and a distraction from myself for most of my life so tracking worked for me. I also didn’t appreciate how many calories I could take in during a day when I wasn’t feeling good - and those days definitely outweighed the good ones. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I realised that in this movement toward loving myself completely I was starting to live from my body and not my mind, and yet I didn’t trust my body with my nutrition regulation. I’d gone so far in the other direction that food wasn’t pleasure at all, it was macros. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In the last two weeks my relationship with food has been strange. Previously I was ravenous all the time, now that I’m not mentally consumed by when my next meal is, I have freedom. I feed my body consciously - I’ve started to find the joy in cooking again. I’ve lost a kg. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I whole heartedly stand by tracking macros as an incredible way to change your body. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But for now, I’m not tracking - instead trusting my 15yrs knowledge and my body. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Do you track?

If looks could kill... I have been spending some time exploring many other passions and diving into new experiences outside of fitness. I have been feeling uninspired by the strategic booty angling, muscle flexing, competitive diet meal posts, and single-dimensional “24/7 hustler’s grind” mindset that’s trending in the fitness industry culture. For most, our bodies undergo hours, days, weeks, months, and years of construction to achieve a look held to a high personal standard, while tying in a mental aspect. Things begin to shift when you realize you need to improve your mental diet. It becomes about what you watch, what you read, who you follow, and who you spend your time with. If your goal is to have a healthier mind, start by removing the “junk” in your mental diet. While I still appreciate these types of posts, I’ve wanted to showcase another side to me. There are so many dimensions to a person that go unseen on social media. I will be posting a series of photographs from a shoot where I was pushed way out of my comfort zone. Usually, I would’ve planned shoots around an upcoming show where I am “lean enough” to showcase a look that was not typical of me year-round. Here is an intro to a different side, an artistic side, an abstract side, a stimulating side - a new dimension ✨
